Upper Franconia in climate protection fever: RegioCop24 brings a breath of fresh air!
Bayreuth, Deutschland - In Bayreuth it is bubbling! As part of the RegioCop24, over 50 committed participants from municipalities, administration, science and civil society gathered in the KlimaLounge to jointly develop solutions for municipal climate protection. This event, organized by the climate protection management of the city and the Bayreuth district, offered a platform for practical impulses, exciting discussions and valuable network options.
Bayreuth's mayor Thomas Ebersberger and district administrator Florian Wiedemann emphasized the urgency of regional climate protection measures. "Cooperations, alliances and networks are crucial for the success of municipal climate protection," emphasized Ebersberger. The two leaders are convinced that inter -municipal cooperation can not only be mastered more easily through inter -municipal cooperation, but also have to create equivalent living conditions. "RegioCop is a unique idea generator in Germany," added Wiedemann and promised important impulses for climate adjustment.
practical approaches and financing
The sub -conference presented specific examples of the implementation of climate protection measures. Philipp Abel from the Fürth sustainability office explained how sustainable procurement works in municipalities. In addition, the qualitative climate check, which is already used in Bayreuth and the district, was presented. Another highlight was the lecture by Gregor Rupp, which illuminated the effects of local construction projects on the climate.
A central topic was the sustainable financing of climate protection projects. Innovative approaches were discussed in a workshop to ensure structural protection for climate protection activities. Henrik Schiller from the German Institute for Urban Studies spoke about the possibility of a change in the Basic Law for the financial support of climate protection projects. Julia Marx from the University of Bayreuth presented the idea of a transformation agency for Upper Franconia that could provide advice to the municipalities.
The participants took the opportunity to discuss intensely and to develop ideas for the future. The results of these discussions will be incorporated into a final document, which will be presented at the final conference of the Regiocop24 on November 21. The RegioCop24 has again shown that Upper Franconia is a pioneering region in climate protection!
