Bavaria votes for debt package: Revolution in the Bundestag is approaching!
In a dramatic turn, the German Federal Constitutional Court rejected urgent applications from various parties on Monday who wanted to stop the planned special meeting of the Bundestag to vote over a billion-dollar defense and infrastructure package. This package, which also provides billions for Ukraine and requires a change in the Basic Law, now receives the green light for the vote on Tuesday, reports Krone.at .The unification of the parties Union, SPD and the Greens was reached last week. The package stipulates that the debt brake for defense spending and additional investments in the infrastructure is relaxed. A special fund of 500 billion euros is also planned to achieve climate neutrality by 2045, which ensured the approval of the Greens. A two -thirds majority is required for the upcoming vote in the Bundestag, and according to the F.A.Z. It shows that an agreement on the distribution of votes in the Federal Council has already been established. Bavaria has announced that it would agree to the law of what could be of crucial importance for the possibility of approval.
The implementation of the package would provide the Union and SPD a financial scope of over 67 billion euros by 2028. In an internal trial coordination of the Greens, however, there were already the first deviators - some members have announced that they did not want to agree to what could endanger the consent. MP Canan Bayram expressed concerns that the debt package would restrict future parliaments too much, as from the FAZ reported.
