Heating agenda in the new Bamberg Lagard Campus: Tenants suffer!

Jutta Sieberz-Pozza, who only moved to a modern four-room apartment in the summer of 2024, reports on massive problems with the heating system. According to Infranken.de, the headmistress at the Theresianum had given great hopes in the innovative residential project, but when the cold months arrived, she was brutally disappointed. The heating system, which is based on a modern concept with geothermal energy and heat pumps, only provides insufficient heat, which caused numerous symptoms of the tenants. After a software error, living comfort fell by the wayside, and the apartments remained below the desired 22 degrees despite the cold outside temperatures.

The Stadtwerke Bamberg confirm that in autumn 2024 several heating problems occurred in the newly built living area. Apartments remained without functioning heating for weeks. At the moment, some tenants, including Sieberz-Pozza and neighbor Axel Vietz, are now enjoying functioning heating, but dissatisfaction was not without consequences: the landlord has promised compensation for rents in October and November.

parallel to the concerns about the heating problem, another important project is realized on the Lagarde campus. According to the QM magazine, the topping-out ceremony for the urban residential area "Lagarde 8" was recently celebrated. A total of 237 apartments are being built here, 145 of them in the first construction phase, which is already completed. Mayor Andreas Starke emphasizes the importance of the project for Bamberg and sustainable urban development. These new living spaces are specially designed for energy efficiency and should be ready for occupancy by the end of 2025.

The exciting developments on the Lagarde campus, both in terms of the latest living concepts and with regard to the challenges in the heating area, are exemplary for the transformation of the former Lagard barracks to a livable district. However, the new tenants must continue to be patient until the final solution to the heating problem.
