Bavaria is investing 298 million: new tracks for faster rail traffic!

A huge progress for the train in Bavaria! Another section was modernized and expanded on the highly frequented ICE route between Munich and Berlin. The railway has expanded the route between Forchheim and Eggolsheim to four tracks, which should significantly improve long -distance transport, but also regional transport. In the past few years, impressive 298 million euros have flowed into this project, which is supported by the federal government, Free State and Deutsche Bahn.

important connection for long -distance transport

The connection between Nuremberg and Bamberg is one of the most busy railway lines of Bavaria and plays a central role in long -distance transport. The four-track expansion is part of the German Unity Transport Project (VDE 8.1) and will decisively promote ICE traffic between Munich and Berlin. Bavaria's Transport Minister Christian Bernreiter (CSU) emphasizes: "The new section is another important milestone for the traffic infrastructure in Bavaria." This means more attractive and reliable local transport connections in northern Bavaria as well as additional long -distance transport between Berlin and Munich.

The construction work also made the railway stations between Forchheim and Eggolsheim barrier -free. From December, the new S-Bahn stop Forchheim North will also be put into operation. Eight new bridges were built on the almost eight -kilometer -long section, including an impressive steel twin bridge on Autobahn 73.
