Circle of Bad Tölz: Record household and rising debts burden citizens
In the district of Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen it gets serious: the district levy shoots 54.5 percent! This drastic increase by four points brings the municipalities into a difficult situation. District Administrator Josef Niedermaier commented: "It hurts", but he emphasizes that you are still passable compared to other Bavarian municipalities. The record budget for 2025 amounts to almost 210 million euros - an increase of 13 million euros compared to the previous year!
rising debts and massive expenses
The financial challenges are enormous: the debt will increase to around 34 million euros by the end of 2025. The largest cost factors are the district levy with 45.5 million euros and the youth welfare office, which costs 21.6 million euros. Niedermaier warns that expenses are no longer portable due to legal requirements, especially in the area of social benefits. "The requirements are simply not fulfilled," said the district administrator. The increasing personnel costs of the district office, which increase by 1.2 million euros, contribute to the financial burden.
In order to stabilize the budget, a loanion of 6 million euros will be necessary. "A higher district levy and borrowing secure the balanced budget," explains Niedermaier. The consultations about these measures will take place in the specialist committees in the coming months. The situation is tense and the municipalities have to prepare for hard times!
