New sky locations in the Rhön: Discover Star World!
The Rhön, known for its untouched night landscapes, has created a new attraction for starguckers: a heavenly scene that was recently opened at the Berghaus Rhön above Riedenberg. This initiative, which was promoted by the LEADER program, enriches the existing network of sky locations in the Region and enables visitors to explore the night sky with various aids. As Infranken.de includes a rotating star card and a polar star finder, to facilitate orientation. There is also a binocular attachment and a wave bed that make watching the stars a relaxed experience.
December is a special time for star lovers. In the Christmas season, the night sky shows its impressive star dress. The Association of Sternfreunde emphasizes that typical winter star images such as Orion and Kassiopeia are particularly clearly visible. The winter solstice on December 21 marks the beginning of winter and the longest nights of the year, ideal for nighttime sky observations. During this time, shooting stars can also be observed, and the moon offers a spectacular sight on December 14th together with Mars and Jupiter.
In order not to cloud this splendor, the topic of light pollution is also dealt with on the new platform. The heavenly scene wants to help a wide audience find out about the necessary steps to reduce light pollution. A well thought -out handling of light can preserve the beauty of the night and make the observations of the stars and the Milky Way even more impressive. The Rhön remains a first -class place to delve into the miracles of the universe.
