Nuremberg youth teams shine: bronze and strong performances at the tournament!
Aschaffenburg, Deutschland - Last weekend, the young teams of the 1st FC Nürnberg and FC Augsburg showed impressive performances at various tournaments. The U17 of the 1st FC Nürnberg was active at the Brass Cup in Aschaffenburg and secured third place. After a defeat in the first game against 1. FSV Mainz 05 with 0: 3, the team of coach Vincent Novak successfully played the following games: 2-1 against Darmstadt, 4: 2 against Kaiserslautern and 2-1 against Aschaffenburg. The last group game ended with a 2-2 draw against MSV Duisburg, which made it possible to move into the semi-finals. There, however, the team had to give up 0-2 against SpVgg Greuther Fürth. The conclusion was a 3-0 win in the game for 3rd place against Fortuna Düsseldorf.
The U15 of the 1. FC Nürnberg also competed in the Sonnenland Cup, where the group ran as follows: A defeat against Austria Vienna (1: 3) and victories against Stuttgart (3: 1), Deggendorf (5: 0) and Karlsruher SC (2: 0). Nevertheless, the team left 1-2 against FC Augsburg in the quarterfinals.

The U14 was active at the Safeguard Masters Cup and achieved victories against 1. FC Köln (3: 2), Racing Strasbourg (3: 2) and FC Heidenheim (6: 0) in the group phase. In the intermediate round, the team failed with 0-2 against FC Fulham, but was able to defeat the Luxembourg national team 3-2, which missed the move into the semi -finals.
On the Epiphany they took part in the Franz Illich Cup and were able to qualify for the quarter -finals after Siegen against SSV Jahn Regensburg (3: 2), SSV Reutlingen (5: 2) and SSV Ulm (4: 2). A subsequent 9-0 victory against FC Bayern Alzenau ensured that the semi-finals were reached, where they won 3-2 against VfB Stuttgart. However, the final ended with a 2: 3 defeat against the 1st FSV Mainz 05 after extra time. The goalkeeper Fabio Siehr was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the tournament.
The U13 of the 1. FC Nürnberg took part in another event in the group phase with victories against Augsburg (3: 0), Berliner SC (9: 0) and TSGV Waldstetten (9: 0). There was a tie against Mainz (1-1) and a defeat against Stuttgart Kickers (0: 1), which resulted in third place in the group phase. In the quarter -finals, the Heidenheim team was able to defeat 5: 3, but failed 3: 4 in the semi -finals against Mainz. They won the final game for 3rd place against FC Augsburg.
The U12 was twice in use at the Rewe Cup in Herrieden. They performed strongly, but had to give up in the final in 9-meter shooting.
At the same time, the U17 of FC Augsburg achieved remarkable results at the Brass Cup in Aschaffenburg. They won the tournament after a very convincing performance. In the group phase, they won, among other things, against 1. FSV Mainz 05 (2: 1) and SV Darmstadt 98 (3: 1) and after a semi -final victory over 1. FC Nürnberg (4: 2) came to the final, where they defeated the 1. FSV Mainz 05 with 4: 1. Berkay Aslan received additional awards as the best player and Timo Nagel as the best goalkeeper.
The U15 of FC Augsburg triumphed at the Sonnenland Cup in Passau, where they defeated Sturm Graz (2-0) and VfB Stuttgart (1-0) in the group phase. The team won 1-0 in the quarterfinals against Borussia Dortmund and 2-0 in the semifinals against FC Utrecht. In the final they won in a penalty shootout against 1. FC Nürnberg (7: 5 n.E.) after a 2-2 draw. In addition, the U12 of the FCA took third place at the Rewe Cup in Herrieden and the U14 reached third place at a tournament in Munderkingen.
These impressive performance of both club young teams show the great potential and the success of the talent in football.
