Warning strike fireworks in Bavaria: Tens of thousands are demanding more wages!
Amberg, Deutschland - On Monday, November 11th, IG Metall in Bavaria sparked a “warning strike fireworks”, which calls tens of thousands of workers to strike in 117! The reason? The fourth round of negotiations in the tariff conflict between IG Metall and the employers of the metal and electrical industry takes place in Hamburg today. Horst Ott, the Bavarian IG Metall boss from Amberg-Sulzbach, plays a key role as negotiator.
In Amberg and the surrounding area, the pressure on employers can be felt, because here too numerous companies are called up for strike! The protests begin with a rally at the Grammer company in Kümmersbruck at 1 p.m. and continue in Ursenstollen at 10 a.m. In Immenstetten and at the Luitpoldhütte in Amberg, the employees come to an end. Other affected companies are Pepperl+Fuchs and Siemens AG. The union calls for the 3.9 million employees in the industry a wage increase of seven percent with a contract term of just one year. The employers, on the other hand, offer only 3.6 percent over 27 months.
strike actions and possible escalation
already 6,500 employees in IG Metall Amberg took part in the strikes. On Friday, November 8th, there were already campaigns in Amberg, where the strikers from the Pia company and their colleagues from Afag gathered in the parking lot. At Konb Konus, too, the employees said goodbye to the end of the day at individual times.
What happens when the negotiations fail? Sabrina Feige, the second representative of IG Metall Amberg, warns: "When the negotiations fail on Monday, we go to the next escalation level. Then we start with the 24-hour day warning strikes and you will be called back to work!" So the Situation remains tense and the employees are ready to fight for their rights!
