New Bannwald Untereck-Winkelgrat: Natural jewel for Albstadt and Meßstetten!
Albstadt, Deutschland - Forest protection in Baden-Württemberg gets an exciting update! The new Bannwald Untereck-Winkelgrat, an impressive area of 40 hectares, was introduced to the existing Bannwald Untereck near Albstadt in the immediate vicinity. This expansion brings the total area to spectacular 126 hectares! Not only the cities of Albstadt and Meßstetten, but also private owners and the nature conservation association BUND NATURGENZUNG Alb-Neckar (BNAN) are involved in this important step. Together you actively act against the forest protection challenges that stand on the steep slopes.
But what makes this ban forest so special? "The almost unique nationwide of this Bannwald project are the many different participants," explains district administrator Günther-Martin Pauli. Responsibility is taken over here so that the natural cycle in this protected area can develop sustainably - a truly fascinating project! A ban forest that is supposed to ensure that nature is left to itself, without any human intervention. The result? A "jungle of tomorrow" that moves hikers and nature lovers in awe!
research and climate change
The topic is also of enormous research relevance! Bann forests are now being examined more intensively with the growing challenges of climate change. They offer important findings on how not managed forests react to the changing climatic conditions and their influence on biodiversity. Especially in the attractive habitats of the steep Albtrauf slopes, these forests are of great importance due to their natural structures.
Mayor Steve Mall emphasizes: "By designating the Bannwald Untereck-Winkelgrat, our urban area increases to a total of 300 hectares of forest with natural development, which corresponds to a share of 6.2 percent of the forest area." Through the joint initiative, Messstettens Mayor Frank Schroft sees a clear win-win situation for nature conservation and forestry. A great bonus: around 400,000 ecologically valuable points are generated, which can be used as compensation for building. A significant step for forest protection and a sustainable future!
