Groz-Beckert forces Albstadt: tax increases are imminent!

In Albstadt it gets serious: The city administration is considering a "moderate trade tax increase", only months after the rejection of this proposal by the local council. The announcement comes from the city treasury Michaela Wild and not from Mayor Roland Tralmer. This is done in the middle of an alarming message from Groz-Beckert, the city's largest employer, who announces that 50 million euros have to be saved due to the current economic situation. The situation is dangerous and all eyes are directed at the city!

But that's not all! The trade tax debate is complicated by a simultaneous increase in property tax. The city argues that companies benefit from the new regulation of property tax, which does not convince many entrepreneurs. An example shows that a single -family house with a property of 1520 square meters may have to expect a property tax of up to 1506.75 euros. This could be particularly uncomfortable for owners with large properties!

Economy under pressure

The city administration has no doubt that the additional income is urgently needed to close the financial gaps. This leads to tensions. Entrepreneurs are calling for a “transparent and honest communication” by Mayor Tralmer, who is already in regular discussions with the local economy. An increase in trade tax could not be surprising for some, but could continue to burden the economic climate.

In addition, the pressure is further increased by the discussion about property tax. The city could raise the property tax rate of over 500 percent, which could lead to a protest storm in the population. The administrations in Albstadt and in the Zollernalbkreis face enormous challenges, while they have to navigate the new tax landscape. The uncertainties are great and the need for action is always urged!
