Wolfsberg receives 300 seat cushions for sustainable cultural experiences!
On April 19, 2025, the cultural department of the municipality of Wolfsberg received valuable support from the Carinthian Sparkasse. This made a total of 300 weatherproof and robust seat cushions available, which will be used in the future at outdoor events in the urban area. The symbolic handover act took place under the direction of Robert Löffler, team leader of the Sparkasse for the Lower Lavanttal, and Petra Otti, private customer supervisor.
The seat cushions were accepted by Vice Mayor and Culture Officer Michaela Lietscher and cultural employee Kerstin Walder. Lientscher expressed gratefully for the generous donation and emphasized that the visitors are now well equipped thanks to the seat cushions and the rain ponchos already purchased. These new upholstery are not only part of the city's event squipment, but also offer additional comfort and are reusable, which means that they contribute to sustainability.
sustainability in culture
The topic of sustainability extends beyond the city of Wolfsberg and is also treated intensively at the national level. The federal cultural foundation recently revised the guidelines "about living art", which offers more information on procurement in the context of the right to grant. This guide, which was developed in cooperation with the House of Cultures of the World, contains concrete information and links to the sustainable design of cultural projects.
A similar approach is followed by the Goethe Institute, which has published its own guide for sustainable cultural management. This illuminates various fields of action of cultural events and offers food for thought to improve ecological footprints in the cultural industry. In addition, there are various initiatives such as the guidelines of the MFG film funding Baden-Württemberg for the ecological-sustainable film production and the green rotation pass, which is now mandatory for funded German productions.
These guidelines and initiatives help to make the cultural industry sustainable and to reduce any negative environmental impacts through various measures. In a world in which environmental awareness becomes increasingly important, such help is essential.
The clear message that can be seen from the combination of these measures and initiatives is that cultural events can not only be designed entertaining, but also responsibly and sustainably. With the provision of the seat cushions, Wolfsberg sets a good example in this context, which could now have an inspiring effect in the entire region.
For further information on sustainable approaches in culture, it is advisable to study the updated guidelines such as "about living art" on the corresponding platforms. A large number of resources are available online to help organizers, artists and cultural managers with the transition to ecologically sustainable processes.
