Cultural revival in Waldshut-Tiengen: From Pumuckl to ESC star Sobral!
In 2024, the citizens of Waldshut-Tiengen can expect an exciting cultural diversity that is the result of innovative ideas of the cultural office. After a long dry spell that was characterized by the pandemic, numerous events are on the program, which include both old and new formats. A special highlight will be the appearance of Salvador Sobral, the winner of the Eurovision Song Contest 2017, as part of the World Town Festival.
The Kulturamt of Waldshut-Tiengen has found creative ways to motivate people to participate in events and to end the long break in cultural life. After the Ali Theater Tiengen was reopened after a six-year break, the new program started with the Figure Theater Knuth. The events that take place there attract both children and adults.
Various offers in new locations
First big highlight of the program is the concert by the accordion player Lydie Auvray, who takes the stage of the Ali Theater with her new album "Mon Voyage". This is only the start of a number of cultural events that will take place in Tiengen and the surrounding area. Further data includes two cabaret evenings and the international accordion festival in May 2025.
An exciting experience awaits visitors to the game reserve on June 1, 2025 when the Black Forrest Percussion Group appears there. In the composition "inuksuit", natural noises merge with musical elements, which promises a unique sound experience.
New in the cultural program are also three film evenings in the Waldshut City Library, which are dedicated to literary films. These films were carefully selected and bring cineastes together with different stories that are still relevant.
These events should not be missed
The highlight of the World Town Festival in 2025 will undoubtedly be the concert of Salvador Sobral, which is estimated by specialist circles as a world musician. "There will be a great atmosphere," says Kerstin Simon from the cultural office enthusiastically. The open-air concert with the band El Flecha Negra, which is supposed to encourage the audience to dance, also promises to be a great event.
The entire cultural offer includes in addition to the events already mentioned, also exhibitions, several classic concerts, readings and workshops. The admission prices are fairly designed so that both adults and children can enjoy culture. The prices for readings with 9 to 12 euros and for children's events with a unit price of 6 euros are quite attractive.
Last but not least, the cultural office will continue to offer the cultural subscription, which facilitates the purchase of tickets for several events in advance. The online access to the complete cultural program is also available, so that interested parties can check at any time what will be offered in the coming year.
It is an important step for those responsible to revive culture after corona pandemic. "We try to inspire people to unusual places," explains Kerstin Simon. The courage to innovate is noticeable and gives hope that the new program will attract both old hands and new faces. The first feedback on the part of the visitors is promising, so that the organizers can hopefully look forward to a successful season.
