Waldshut district: 354 million euros for child and youth welfare 2025!
Waldshut district: 354 million euros for child and youth welfare 2025!
In the Waldshut district, social security for children and adolescents will be on the brink in the coming year! District Administrator Martin Kistler and youth welfare director Heribert Thamm presented alarming numbers that excited the district councils and social experts. The household design for 2025 provides an incredible 354 million euros, with the youth welfare office registering an additional need of 1.2 million euros. The increasing costs for youth welfare raise questions!
The expenditure for the care of small children and the support of young people literally explode! Child day care alone is estimated at 1.33 million euros, with the state of Baden-Württemberg only taking over a fraction of it. Parents have to dig deep into their pockets, while the district authority arises with 23.56 million euros for educational support - even though only 4 million euros are provided by the country! A worrying increase in the defaulting payer means that the youth authority has to expect 4.3 million euros in maintenance in 2025, which further increases the financial burden.
social help on several fronts
A supporting pillar of child and youth welfare in the district is the non-profit company for family aid mbH, which is planning for outpatient help with 250 employees and a budget of 8.7 million euros. The tasks range from support for divorces to inclusion aid for children with mentally ill. The focus is particularly on the unaccompanied minor foreigners (UMA), whose care in Bonndorf and St. Blasien costs 1.4 million euros. The outgoing managing director Christine Lechner emphasized the success in working with these young people and was honored by District Administrator Kistler for their services. She described her services as a "investment in our society" - but how long can this support be maintained?
