Brutal attack in Blaustein: 32-year-old has to be behind grids for 3.5 years
A judgment of the Ulm Regional Court caused a stir: A 32-year-old man was sentenced to three and a half years in prison after he was involved in a brutal robbery in Blaustein. This incident, which took place in June 2022, ended with serious injuries for the victim, a 25-year-old woman. Together with two accomplices, the accused had attacked the woman's apartment and made prey worth over 20,000 euros. However, the other two perpetrators are still on the run.
The court decided not to classify the offense as a severe robbery, although the public prosecutor had asked for a prison sentence of more than nine years. Instead, the judge classified the crime as a minor case. The defendant had submitted a partial confession through his defense lawyer and recognized that he was involved in the robbery, but emphasized that he had never intended to seriously harm anyone. In an emotional explanation, he said he was in a "psychological exceptional Situation" at the time of the raid.
experience of the victim
The process focused on the terrible experiences of the victim. The young woman, who reported on her traumatic experiences in the courtroom, described the attack with shocking details. She was choked until she briefly lost consciousness, and in the subsequent assault her pepper spray was sprayed in the face. When the situation escalated, one of the perpetrators threatened with a knife and demanded money. Fortunately, a sound from a neighboring property let the perpetrators panic.
The psychological and physical consequences of the attack continue to be difficult on the woman. It suffers from fears and sleep disorders caused by the traumatic experiences. In addition, she has persistent eye problems caused by the pepper spray, which prevents her from practicing her profession as a beautician.
The defendant's defense had called for a suspended sentence of two years, but the judgment shows that even undernight attacks can have serious consequences. The court made a sign that such severe offenses do not remain without punishment, even if it deals with a milder assessment of the crime. While the defendant now has to serve his punishment, it remains uncertain whether the other two suspects are ever caught.
