stadtwerke Tuttlingen GmbH raises the alarm: risk of frost for water pipes! In order to prevent catastrophic damage, the drinking water fountain on Weimarstrasse, Nendinger Allee and in Möhringen were temporarily shut down.

A single frosty night can cause unprotected outside lines! Stadtwerke urgently warn that night -time subtlety temperatures are dangerous for garden lines and water meters. Freezing can not only result in expensive repairs, but in the worst case also lead to a flooded basement in spring. But there is hope: With timely frost protection measures, this damage can be easily avoided!

Freost protection tips of the Stadtwerke

• water meters and exposed lines should be protected from drafts with an insulating layer. Water meter shafts outdoors are particularly at risk that are not deep enough!
• Keller window in winter absolutely close! Too long ventilation can make water pipes and water meters freeze.
• water pipes in the garden, courtyard or in garages lock and empty in good time before winter. The tap should remain open over the winter!
• Alternatively, frost protection warners or electrical heating tapes can be used.

Caution! If there are freezing despite all the precautions, the municipal utilities strongly advise against thawing them independently. Do not use infrared radiators, hot air pistols or open fire - the fire risk is enormous! Instead, a specialist company should be contacted immediately.
