Chaos on the Badeland: Motorists have to pay unintentionally after the game!

Wolfsburg. On the last match day between VfL Wolfsburg and VfB Stuttgart, there were considerable difficulties for the many visitors who drove to the Wolfsburg Badeland. A reader who wanted to remain anonymous described the situation that worsened in front of the barrier of the Badelandparkplatz. Despite the paid parking fees, leaving the parking lot had become a game of patience. The new barrier system that has been in operation since July ensures that the approximately 210 parking spaces between Badeland and the EIS-Arena are again subject to a fee, and this led to unpleasant surprises.

The potential parking space users were faced with the challenge during their journey home that the time they had after paying their parking ticket was not enough to leave it in time. "Within the quarter of an hour's maternity leave, it was not possible to leave the parking lot in time," complains one user. The circumstances were particularly annoying because many drivers had to wait hours in the parking lot for hours, while other vehicles made it impossible to drive back and forth.

Criticism: Drivers had to pay

Another problem was that drivers only learned at the barrier that they had to pay despite the waiting time. This caused displeasure among the users who saw themselves in a hopeless situation and rely on the help of their fellow travelers to pay the ticket. "We couldn't help it for so long," was one of the frustrated comments.

Ralf Schmidt, the city spokesman, commented on the symptoms and regretted the problems that occurred. He explained that the new barrier system has so far been in function without any significant difficulties since its commissioning. The 15-minute maternity period between the payment process and exit was sufficient, and he emphasized that it is clearly regulated in the terms of use of the parking lot. However, there was no feedback to the city on a previous sold -out home game against FC Bayern Munich.

City wants to check the maternity leave time

The city intends to observe the situation in future home games. A possible adaptation of the maternity period is considered: "We will try to extend the maternity period after the end of the game for a certain time to 30 minutes to avoid such inconveniences," added Schmidt.

The renewal of the barrier was not accidental. The city is dependent on income, so the old, no longer functional system was exchanged for a new one for 144,000 euros. The city expects the parking fees to take around 59,000 euros annually. Parking remains free of charge for guests of the bathing area because you can have your Tickets unlocked in the bathroom.

Police pointed out to a parking space situation

Before the football game there was already a hint from the police who warned of the restricted parking facilities due to the international supplier's exchange (IZB). The police recommended that visitors arrive early and use the "Park and Ride" service to park stress-free. It was also advised to use public transport or bicycles to avoid traffic jams and crowded parking spaces.

The current situation in the parking lot has undoubtedly stimulated thinking and how future parking management will be designed. The city of Wolfsburg takes the matter seriously and will do everything possible to offer visitors a better experience.
