Future vision for Sindelfingen: New life on old hospital grounds!
Future vision for Sindelfingen: New life on old hospital grounds!
From this Wednesday, the citizens of Sindelfingen will have the opportunity to visit the designs for the redesign of the former hospital site in the Stern Center. This exhibition, which will be shown in the cultural area of the shopping center until November 17th, attracts attention to an important urban planning project that could have a lasting impact on the city planning of the region.
The reasons for this conversion are clear: With the planned opening of the airfield clinic in 2026, existing hospitals in Böblingen and Sindelfingen will lose their function. While the city of Böblingen is still discussing the future use of its clinic site, Sindelfingen already has a clear plan to transform the area into a modern residential and business area. An urban planning competition was initiated to collect fresh and innovative ideas that are not only sustainable, but also future -oriented.
competition results and exhibition
The results of this competition were presented last week. The winning design, submitted by the Studio Wessendorf in partnership with the landscape architects Grieger Harzer Dvorak, was awarded by the jury. This concept impresses with the intelligent connection of living and work surfaces as well as a well thought-out open space design that harmoniously linked the area with the adjacent districts and nature.
In the exhibition in the Stern Center, visitors can not only look at the winning design, but also other interesting ideas and concepts that were submitted in the competition. The show is open Monday to Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.
In addition to the renovation plans in Sindelfingen, there are also efforts in Böblingen to redesign the clinic site there. However, the Situation is a little more complicated here. The district has the site and there are currently negotiations on a possible purchase to the city that wants to build a technology campus. The country has also expressed interest in setting up a state reception center for refugees on this area, which makes negotiations even more difficult.
These developments illustrate how important the redesign of the former clinic areas for urban development in the Böblingen region is. The exhibition in the Stern Center is therefore not only an opportunity to evaluate the creative ideas of the architects, but also a step into a new, sustainable era of urban life.
