Colonty for millions of logistics center in Bad Saulgau celebrated!

On Monday evening, October 7th, the topping -out ceremony for the new logistics center of the Grieshaber Logistik company took place in Bad Saulgau. Although the official address is registered at Luizstrasse 10, the guests were led to the construction site via Mackstraße because the common navigation devices cannot yet record the new address.

Manuela Neumann, the company's marketing manager, gave first insight into the construction progress on request. "Hall 1 already has side walls and part of the roof is installed. The supports for the other hall are already," said Neumann. The logistics center will house two large halls on an area of 16,000 square meters, which are separated from each other by a fire wall. There will also be a smaller hall for container loading.

status quo on the construction site

The majority of the development work has already taken place on the more than 81,000 square meters. "The area level is made, which is very important for the construction," the freight forwarding company indicates progress in a press release. The total cost of the project is currently around 40 million euros, more than originally planned. The main reason for this is the increased construction and interest costs, but the company secures that the construction remains economically sensible, since the savings potential has also increased in transport costs.

With the opening of the logistics center, not only new jobs are created, but also existing areas are shifted. In the first phase, Grieshaber plans to hire around 30 employees with the opportunity to increase this number to 50. The marketing manager states: "We bring many employees who are currently commuting from Bad Saulgau to Ravensburg to the new location."

Mayor Raphael Osmakowski-Miller is pleased with progress. "The securing of the Claas location in Bad Saulgau is crucial and creating new jobs will continue to make the region attractive."

extended arm from Claas

The close cooperation between Grieshaber and Claas has been over ten years. Grieshaber functions as a logistical partner for Claas, which is located in Ravensburg-Weissenau. "Despite its constant expansion, our warehouse in Ravensburg has reached its capacity limit," explains Grieshaber in a press release. Due to the construction of the new logistics center, not only will the storage capacity be available, but also a cost saving through the geographical proximity to the Claas company. Ulrich Nickol, site manager at Claas, emphasizes that the new location will significantly improve production processes.

On request regarding the use of the logistics center, Grieshaber made it clear that the halls are mainly reserved for Claas, but also created opportunities for other customers in Hall 2.

Another aspect that graves followed as part of the project is sustainability. The construction is equipped with photovoltaic systems that cover the entire energy requirement and even produce surpluses. In addition, a charging infrastructure for electric trucks and a public truck parking space with sanitary facilities is planned. In the long term, the company plans to use CO2-neutral electric trucks for transportation.

The topping-out ceremony attracted numerous guests, including Claas employees, representatives of the city of Bad Saulgau and the BW-Bank involved in the financing. The managing directors of Grieshaber gave visitors an insight into the project, with construction manager Gregor Paesch continued with the traditions of the topping -out festival and with a brokener of the champagne glass said his judgment: "Glass is now basically cheating - this hall was consecrated."

Benjamin Wollmann, Head of Immobilien at Grieshaber, explained the final design of the logistics center and Mayor Osmakowski-Miller for Bad Saulgau as the ideal location to feel good in the future. Some of the guests could also get a personal impression of the progress when visiting a construction site.
