New district referee chairman Wessner: fresh wind for the SRG!

Hans-Peter Wessner becomes temporary district referee chairman until the end of the election period, after Jochen Oelmayer, chairman of the SRG Riß, announced his resignation on the men's half-year relay in Schwendi. Oelmayer had resigned on December 29, 2022, as did his role as deputy district chairman. Wessner followed Martin Maier as chairman of SRG Sigmaringen in 2021 and is now facing the challenge of filling out the vacant position.

In the area of SRG Bad Saulgau, there were difficulties in filling arbitrators for some games in the preliminary round. It is planned for the second half of the season to first fill central games with impartial. There could also be an exchange with surrounding referee groups or the games are delegated to the home clubs. The semi-finals in the men's district cup are to continue to be directed by tension from non-involved referee groups. A possible exchange with the Donau/Iller district for the final is also considered.

growing referee numbers and newcomers

According to the website of the Sigmaringen referee group, six newcomers won last season. A new newcomer is now being carried out in a format 3.0 that includes three theory lessons and ends with an intermediate examination. These new referees can immediately lead games in the E, D and C youth. After a waiting time of 6-8 weeks, the second theoretical part begins with other training courses and a final examination under the direction of Leonardo Mimmo, the group's teaching attendant.

In the SRG Saulgau, twelve new referees were trained, mostly under the age of 18. The newcomer course in October 2022 achieved a success rate of 16 existing candidates, while there are still four reviews. A new newcomer to SRG Riß starts on January 14th, and 21 participants have been registered so far. Spontaneous participation is also possible.

Oelmayer emphasized the need to treat referees respectfully and to recognize their important role in sport. Missing referees can not only lead to problems in the game, but also to fines for the clubs that can be between 300 and 600 euros.

To promote referee support, all clubs in the district are appealed to actively support the newcomers. Interested parties can contact Yannick Weikert by phone or at Can Göksu by email.
