New owner for Sternenbäck: Martin Mahl plans conversion and expansion!
A new hope for the bakery in Sigmaringen! Martin Mahl, managing director of the renowned Backhaus Mahl, has prevailed after intensive negotiations with the insolvency administrator and takes over the star bakery from December 1st. But the opening of his new branch is only planned after a renovation for January. The Starbäck will still be operated under its old flag by the end of November, although opening hours have already been severely restricted due to lack of staff.
Why is this location a stroke of luck? Mahl sees the convenient location on Hohenzollernstraße as the perfect place for his new branch. With parking spaces right in front of the door and enough space for a café and snacks, a real customer magnet will be created here! In addition, the nearby Bertha Benz School, which will be opened in summer, will ensure an additional visitors' tower, according to the managing director.
Takeover of employees and expansion in Sigmaringen
Another important topic: Mahl plans to take on interested employees of the Sternenbäck. But the talks are still pending, while terminations have already been received by Sternenbäck. The company had filed for bankruptcy a few weeks ago, which results in the closure of numerous branches in Baden-Württemberg. In addition to the Sigmaringer branch, Mahl will also take on a business in Constance.
But that's not all! Mahl is already planning the opening of another free -standing location in Sigmaringen to strengthen the market presence. The background is the upcoming end for the Kaufland branch that will pass to Edeka in summer. Mahl emphasizes that he wants to grow in a controlled manner to keep up the quality standards. Again and again he will check the locations for their return, which can also mean that branches have to be closed occasionally.
