Fairtrade festival in Sigmaringen: Honored winner of the estimation game!
An exciting estimation game at the festival of cultures on October 13th in Sigmaringen caused excitement! The steering group of the Fairtrade city asked the tricky question: How many peppercorns are in a glass? The answer was crucial for participating in this exciting competition.
On Saturday, November 9th, the time had come: Gerhard Stumpp, a committed member of the steering group, presented the prizes to the happy winners! The Auer couple from Scheer as well as Tanja Friese and Lena Campregher from Sigmaringen estimated the number of 6551 peppercorns. They were able to look forward to sustainability packages worth around 30 euros each, which were supplemented by the world shop Sigmaringen with shopping vouchers.
Fairtrade and its meaning
Stumpp took the opportunity to thank the participants for their interest in the fair trade idea. Fairtrade means that people in poorer countries can receive a fair share of profit and work under fair conditions for their goods. "The Fairtrade sign stands for environmentally friendly products that were produced without child labor. Children belong to school, not on the field!" Stumpp emphasized. Fair trade also promotes the fight against causes of flight in the countries of origin.
Sigmaringen proudly has been entitled Fairtrade city since September 2019. The steering group has set itself the goal of clarifying fair trade and fair working conditions and supporting the providers of fair trade products. This group consists of committed volunteers, representatives of institutions, associations and the city administration, which together fight for a fairer world.
