People's request: Limit state parliament - citizen participation made easy!
Münsterplatz, 78050 Villingen-Schwenningen, Deutschland - A referendum for reducing the state parliament in Baden-Württemberg picks up speed! Since September 2024, citizens have had the opportunity to work for this important project that aims to purify the state parliament. The initiators warn that the state parliament could overcome up to 216 MPs after the next election, which would not only endanger efficiency, but also burden taxpayers with additional costs of up to 150 million euros!
But while the initiator Dieter Distler from Bietigheim-Bissingen complains about bureaucratic hurdles in Stuttgart, Villingen-Schwenningen is a model for citizen participation. Distler reports that it was a real challenge to register in the state capital - the opening times of the statistical office are "harassed" and access can hardly be found. In contrast, the process in Villingen is uncomplicated and citizen -friendly.
How does the referendum work?
In Baden-Württemberg, all cities and municipalities are obliged to interpret the documents of the referendum. If you want to participate, you will quickly find the necessary information on the municipal homepage Villingen-schwenningen.de. Citizens can submit their signature by December 10th, and simply in the town hall on Münsterplatz. The opening times are optimal: Monday to Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
A visit to the town hall is a child's play! After a short registration and the presentation of the ID card, you can enter the registration list - and the whole thing is done in a few minutes! In this way, citizen participation comes alive and shows that each individual can have an impact on political decisions!
