New doctor's office in Bräunlingen: Health without an appointment in a circle!

New doctor's office in Bräunlingen: Health without an appointment in a circle!

In the quiet community of Bräunlingen in the Black Forest Baar district, there has been a remarkable progress in health care for some time. Every Saturday, citizens can see a doctor without prior appointment - an initiative that is considered a true luxury in this region. This was made possible by the opening of a branch of a doctor from Schwenningen, which aims to significantly improve medical care in the surrounding area.

Mike Lübke, the initiator of this project, has taken the necessary steps in cooperation with the Schwarzwald-Baar-Heuberg business development agency, under the direction of Henriette Stanley, to put this idea into practice. Stanley underlines the importance of such initiatives for the attractiveness of the region and emphasizes that cooperation with the municipality of Bräunlingen came quickly.

hurdles on the way to implementation

However,

was overcoming several bureaucratic difficulties at the beginning of the project. As Henriette Stanley explains, an approval process at the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV) was required, which took some time. In addition, technical challenges such as the digital connection between the main and branch practice had to be managed.

The efforts to improve medical care are an important topic in the entire circle. According to Heike Frank, press spokeswoman for the district office, is intensively working with various associations and municipalities, including Villingen-Schwenningen, to address the challenges. The creation of a medical care center is one of the solutions discussed to ensure the supply in the long term.

A central problem, however, remains the lack of doctors that the KV is also concerned. A further training network is created here that was launched in autumn 2023. This network is intended to help win young doctors for the region and to bind in the long term. Those involved hope to get directly to medical students through information and offers to beat the bridge between training and practice.

The situation in Donaueschingen is also tense, as Beatrix Grüninger, the head of the press office in the town hall, reports. There is also a lack of general practitioners and specialists, which is further tightened by the demographic development of the medical profession. The city has already contacted various institutions to develop concepts to combat the impending lack of doctors.

For the city of Hüfingen, there are currently no concrete plans for a comparable model project such as branch practice in Bräunlingen, but the city is open to new approaches to improve medical care. Mike Lübke notes that a core target of the project is the creation of concepts that can also be implemented in other regions with similar needs.

The Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians supports the initiative to establish branch practices. Gabriele Kiunke-Schwarz, press spokeswoman for KV Baden-Württemberg, finds that such practices can significantly improve the supply close to home. The KV's new guideline "Goal and Future" (ZUZ) aims to inspire medical students during their training for outpatient care. This is particularly important for the Donaueschingen region, which is currently classified as an acute 1 funding area as part of this guideline.

The support of communities and local actors promotes the opening of medical practices, whereby the solutions vary depending on the region. The current developments in Bräunlingen could serve as a model for other cities that are faced with similar challenges. However, the ongoing initiative requires both commitment and staying power to sustainably improve health care in the Black Forest Baar district.
