Currently, 960 household seats are vacant in the southwest, and the picture for specialists is hardly better. Covered and pregnant women complain about hopeless conditions and unsuccessful call marathons in practices.

"There is a gynecologist emergency in the Black Forest Baar district!", Explains Kai Sonntag, spokesman for the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians Baden-Württemberg (KVBW). Despite countless attempts, a pregnant woman in the region did not find a gynecologist who could record her. The victims are the patients who have a clear claim to their preventive examinations, but given the overloaded practices, they often fall by the wayside. The problem will not be solved soon, because gynecological care is closed like a fortress: no new practice opening, no extensions. That makes pregnant women despair!

To put some light into the dark, there are the so -called open consultation hours. Patients can appear here without an appointment - however, the waiting times are often long or the times1 a week is limited. "If you need a doctor, you should definitely visit the KVBW website to search for a doctor," advises Sonntag, while reality is different for many. Statistical full care in the region does not automatically mean good care. A doctor who works only 30 hours a week, just can't look after as many patients as someone who works for 50 hours.

The KVBW sees the weaknesses in the system: "If you ask five institutes, you get six answers!" Said Sonntag. The existing set of rules for calculating the doctor's seats cannot approximate demand. While reality and the statistics rarely coincide, pregnant women desperately fight for their health claims and face nothing - while the medical landscape is still under pressure, nothing but a shadowy hope remains.
