Instead of panic, the child should be kept upright or taken up to make breathing easier. Fresh, cool air can also be soothing; A quick look out of the window can help here. If it's cold outside, it is advisable to wrap the child warmly.

A pseudo croup can put a lot of strain on the child, and severe shortness of breath is a serious alarm sign. Dr. Schleicher therefore emphasizes the need to act quickly: "In any case, the child should be introduced to a pediatrician". If the shortness of breath intensifies, it is advisable to immediately choose the emergency call 112 and have an emergency doctor informed.
