Sulz 2024: Citizens' request and innovations bring fresh wind!

The year 2024 was particularly eventful for Sulz, Vöhringen and the surrounding communities. One of the highlights is the first test drive on the new pump track, which produced great enthusiasm among the children. The pump track offers an exciting route with waves, steep wall curves and "tables" for small jumps. In addition, important decisions on wind power were made, while the new "Joker" skirt opened its doors. The region experienced farewells, new beginnings and remarkable successes.

In terms of wind power, the Administrative Court of Freiburg has prohibited a preliminary citizens' decision by the city of Sulz am Neckar. However, the registered citizens' request that was initiated by residents was declared lawful. This egg decision, which bears the file number 10 K 4949/24, is not yet final. The citizens' request asks whether the lease should be leased to wind power operators. A planned citizens' decision of the municipal council, which was scheduled for December 8, 2024 with a reverse question, was not allowed to be carried out for the time being.

The city had previously decided on June 3, 2024 to lease areas for a maximum of nine wind turbines. In response to this, a community group initiated a request to address the effects on forest areas and local recreation areas. A legal opinion that was created on behalf of the city rated the citizens' request as inadmissible, which is why the municipal council rejected the request on September 30, 2024. However, the court decided that the citizens' request is highly permitted and the application fulfills the legal requirements. In addition, the court made it clear that a citizens 'decision based on a council request does not represent an equivalent alternative to the citizens' request. The city of Sulz now has the opportunity to make a complaint within two weeks of the announcement of the decision.
