Epfendorfer family Stöffler wins cultural landscape award 2024!

A radiant festival for nature! The cultural landscape award 2024 has awarded the best environmentalists in Vaihingen an der Enz. Six main winners, including the Pia and Rudolf Stöffler couple from Epfendorf, were honored for their extraordinary commitment. This award, which is awarded by the Swabian Heimatbund and the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe Baden-Württemberg, recognizes the tireless work of citizens who are committed to the preservation of our valuable landscapes.

The Stöfflers have managed an impressive juniper heath in the Unteres Schlichemtal nature reserve in Epfendorf. Despite the threat of overgrowth, they cultivated and managed the area with dedication. Every year in spring they mow the terrain, laboriously remove old and broken wood and have their Heidschnuckenherde grazed the meadow in the rest of the year. Your commitment is a shining example of how important it is to protect and maintain our natural resources.

prices and honors

The winners were rewarded with money sums between 500 and 1500 euros, which are provided by the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and the Sparkassenstiftung Environmental Protection. When announcing the winners, Bernd Langner, managing director of the Swabian Heimatbund, emphasized the importance of such initiatives: "Many of these historically and ecologically valuable structures would disappear without this exemplary use." In addition, three special prices for volunteering to maintain small monuments were awarded, which underlines the diversity of the projects and approaches that are implemented in the region.

The cultural landscape award is an annual award that encourages all those who take care of the preservation of orchards, juniper and other landscape elements in Württemberg, Hohenzollern and adjacent regions. A call to all nature lovers to actively work for our environment!
