Old Duttenhofer Bridge away! Rottweil plans modern new building 2025
The old Duttenhofer Bridge in Rottweil is history! The demolition has been completed on time and the train can finally roll again. The top lines of the railway line were installed on Friday, and the trains have been on the route again since Saturday. A real reason to joy for all commuters!
The countdown for the demolition began on September 23, as the first preparatory steps were started. It was a huge effort! The demolition itself took place between October 13th and 24th, while the Gäubahn was closed anyway. Deutsche Bahn even set up a replacement of the rail traffic so as not to let travelers down. "Thanks to an excellent construction site logistics, the demolition in the intended period was smooth," said project manager Sebastian Jauch. Well, everything runs according to plan!
The plans for the new bridge
The actual demolition work was impressive: 20 truck loads asphalt, 50 truck loads of concrete fracture and over 300 truck loads in the ground-this is not a cardboard stick! The rubble is now stored in the Bern Feld industrial area. While the asphalt is disposed of directly, the concrete break is prepared for the new building. And the best? The city plans to build the new bridge in spring 2025 without further blocking the railway line. This is called clever!
The new building will rely on modern geotechnical techniques that not only shorten the construction period, but also reduce CO₂ emissions. The use of natural materials is promoted, and the greening of the support walls is literally integrated into the landscape. A real progress for Rottweil and the future!
