Horb am Neckar, Deutschland - alarm mood in Horb am Neckar! A pediatrician in the Freudenstadt district plans to only treat private patients from 2025! This surprising decision follows a similar step by a colleague from Villingen-Schwenningen. Parents are concerned and started an online petition to protest against the tense pediatrician shortage-and the first successes are shown: Many thousand signatures have already come together!

Among the initiators of the petition is Maximilian Kumpf. He reports of an overwhelming response: within just ten days they collected almost 6,000 signatures - not only from Horb, but also from Heilbronn. A disturbing situation, because the parents demand that their sick children can be treated nearby. "Driving with a sick child for several hours is not a walk," emphasizes Kumpf. For the families concerned, the situation is not only uncomfortable, but in terms of health, since regular examinations are important to the same doctor.

The pressure on the city grows! At the last council meeting, the lack of pediatricians was heated up as a hot topic. Despite the dissatisfied citizens, Horbs Mayor Peter Rosenberger explains that the city is not responsible, but they are actively trying to find solutions. Meanwhile, it shows that the path of private medicine is not just a question of money - the immense workload also causes resentment among doctors!

"The whole country is affected," warns Kai Sonntag from the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians. In many regions, including the Calw district, there are urgently lacking pediatricians. The situation could soon be worsening, since many older doctors can retire. The concerns of the Horber parents are therefore justified and they have to come up with solutions quickly. The defect could still tighten, and the next few months will be decisive!
