SAP: Germany's most valuable company is in Walldorf!
Baden-Württemberg is undoubtedly an economic power center in Germany and in Europe. Here are some of the most important companies in the continent, under which the SAP SE stands out, which is considered Germany's most valuable company. Founded in 1972, SAP from the small management consultancy in Weinheim developed into a giant in the software branch.
The headquarters of SAP is located in Walldorf, a charming community in the Rhein-Neckar district. A few entrepreneurship, including Dietmar Hopp and Hasso Plattner, laid the foundation for this success by developing a software platform that supported companies in managing their business processes. The result of innovative strength is a market capitalization of around 246 billion euros, the SAP as a leading company in Germany and as one of the largest software companies worldwide-only exceeded by the American tech giants.
The impressive market position of SAP
SAP has developed an excellent reputation, especially for its comprehensive integrated software applications. With more than 280 million cloud subscribers and over 24,000 partner companies, SAP has successfully positioned itself not only in the areas of software development, but also in relatives such as finance and data management. This global influence is also underpinned by a variety of development centers worldwide. Nevertheless, the group is also known for offering competitive salaries and numerous employee benefits, even if there is currently a progressive job cuts.
Another factor that contributes to the high rating of SAP is the stock market course. On October 7, 2024, the share price was 200.30 euros, which increases the group significantly above other important companies such as Siemens and Deutsche Telekom. This not only reflects the market position in the DAX, the leading stock index of Germany, but also SAPs global relevance. In the international ranking of the most valuable companies, SAP also took 61st place in 2023.
The founders of SAP, especially Plattner and Hopp, are among the richest personalities in the country. Although Plattner has no longer been operational since May 2024, he remains a central figure for the company. His successor as chairman of the supervisory board, Pekka Ala-Pietilä, will continue to lead the company to a growth-oriented and technology-driven future. The current CEO, Christian Klein, has a clear vision: stronger focus on artificial intelligence and cloud solutions.
The DAX companies in Baden-Württemberg
In addition to SAP, there are other important companies from Baden-Württemberg listed in the DAX. This includes automobile manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Porsche AG, Daimler Truck and Porsche SE, which together play a significant role in German business events. Another remarkable company that is represented in the DAX is the building materials group Heidelberg Materials.
Interestingly, the competition at European level is just as intensive: Companies such as Novo Nordisk from Denmark and the luxury goods group LVMH show top positions in the assessment. From a global point of view, Apple remains unmatched with a market capitalization of 3.45 trillion.
