Mark Cavendish: Cycling legend says goodbye with a big final!

Singapur, Singapur - Berlin (dpa) - A legendary farewell! The world -famous Sprinter Mark Cavendish, a name that stands for records and fame in cycling, ends his impressive career. The 39-year-old Brit announced on Instagram: "Sunday will be the last race of my professional cycling career." In Singapore he will celebrate his farewell in a smaller race.

"I was very lucky to do what I love most for almost 20 years," said Cavendish. He proudly looks back on a career in which he has achieved everything you can wish for. "I always wanted to make the difference in cycling, and now I am ready to start the next chapter," he added. An emotional video, which shows its greatest successes, accompanies its moving words. Cavendish holds the record with 35 stage wins at the Tour de France and can look back on numerous titles, including World Championships and an Olympic silver medal in Madison 2016 in Rio de Janeiro.
