50 years of district youth ring Rems-Murr: a festival for the youth!

Backnang, Deutschland - A spectacular anniversary was celebrated in the Backnanger community center! The district youth ring Rems-Murr, a central point of contact for youth work in the Rems-Murr district, can look back on 50 years full of commitment and success. District Administrator Richard Sigel praised the organization for its tireless efforts for democracy and community. Mayor Maximilian Friedrich described the KJR as "indispensable support of society" and praised its invaluable value for the region.

The KJR, founded in 1974 from the Jugendringen Backnang and Waiblingen, campaigned for around 70,000 young people and around 50 member organizations. Under the direction of Marcus Lenz and Marita Trautner, the association has developed into an indispensable player in youth promotion. In addition to leisure activities and training, the focus is on inclusion. With projects such as "adventure inclusion", young people are brought together with and without disabilities in order to promote equal participation in social life. Sensitization actions such as wheelchair course, draw attention to the needs of people with disabilities.

Another important mainstay of the KJR is career orientation, especially for endangered young people. Programs such as "Use opportunities - create access" offer targeted support with school and professional challenges. In addition, the KJR is committed to democratic values and diversity, including through the “Rems Queer Circle” project, which LGBTQ+ young people offers a platform.

The KJR is financed by grants from the Rems-Murr district as well as through funding programs and donations. Despite the challenges that arise from a complex funding landscape and concealed funding pots, the KJR remains optimistic. The volunteers are the backbone of the organization, and on the anniversary evening, outstanding volunteers, such as Hartmut Windmüller, were honored for their tireless efforts. The KJR plans to actively shape topics in the future, in particular the support of young people with psychological problems.
