Massive failures in local transport: warning strikes in South Baden!

Schutterwald, Deutschland - alarm mood in local transport from Südbaden! The ver.di union called for the warning strike campaign and the effects are devastating. Already on Wednesday and Thursday, numerous buses and trains will fail in the Region, especially in the Ortenaukreis, where the Süwestdeutsche Landesverkehrs-GmbH (SWEW) expects massive disorders.

ver.di announces that the strikes that affect public transport in all of Baden-Württemberg will lead to extreme failures. On these two days there will be no regular traffic in many cities, including Weil am Rhein, Endingen and Offenburg. The SWEW warns: "In Schutterwald, Kehl and Lahr, bus traffic is completely stopped!" Even the school buses fail and replacement traffic is not in sight! The demands of ver.di are clear: higher wages and an inflation compensation for the 5,500 employees in six federal states. In the current collective bargaining round, a monthly plus of 350 euros and an inflation compensation of 1,300 euros is required. After the first round of negotiations, in which the employers only offered an increase of three percent from April 2025, ver.di sees the situation as completely inadequate. The second round of negotiations takes place on November 11th, and the pressure is increasing, because the duration of the strike has now been extended to 48 hours to illustrate the seriousness of the situation to employers.
