Magnificat: Experience Advent sounds in Gengenbach and Offenburg!
A musical highlight awaits visitors in Gengenbach and Offenburg! On December 7 and 8, 2024, the Offenburger vocal ensemble Gradual Vocal under the direction of conductor Hanna Schmal will perform two impressive concerts entitled Magnificat . The first sounds sound on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. in the mother house church in 77723 Gengenbach, followed by another concert on Sunday at 5:00 p.m. in the monastery church of our dear wife in 77652 Offenburg.
a masterpiece of the Baroque
The Magnificat in B of the Italian composer Francesco Durante, an important representative of the Neapolitan baroque, is the center of the performances. This masterpiece, which is one of the most important compositions of the artist, combines traditional polyphonic spelling with modern, early classic elements. In addition, two German settings of the Magnificat are presented: the expressive version of Heinrich Schütz and Johann Ernst Bach's virtuoso cantata, which was arranged for choir, solos and instruments.The varied program not only promises spiritual music, but also festive choir and instrumental music during Advent. Entry to these special concerts is free and visitors are invited to provide generous donations for the Child Protection Association, district association Ortenau e.V. The event is supported by the City of Offenburg and the Lions Club Offenburg.
