New waste container in the district: protection against African swine fever!
Bad Mergentheim, Deutschland - A bold step against the African swine fever: New waste containers have been put into operation in the Main-Tauber district! District Administrator Christoph Schauder emphasizes that this innovative disposal system not only ensures cleanliness of rest areas, but also makes a decisive contribution to disease prevention. "With this disposal system we break new ground and prevent potential dirt at our rest areas," said Schauder in a press release.
The danger lurks in carelessly thrown away food residues, which can be contaminated with the fatal pathogen of the African swine fever. These remains are considered one of the main distribution factors for the disease, which always ends fatally for wild and domestic pigs. The old trash cans were a risk because wild boar could overturn and eat the dangerous remains. Therefore, the changeover to the new, safe underfloor containers was of the greatest importance, especially in view of the large house pig bits in the southern Main-Tauber district.
new containers for more security
The new waste containers, each of which have a capacity of five cubic meters and have an outer diameter of two meters, were delivered by Bauer GmbH from North Rhine-Westphalia on October 1 and 2. By the end of October, they were installed in the ground by the Konrad-Bau company from Gerlachsheim. The roadmasters Tauberbischofsheim and Bad Mergentheim are currently still performing even smaller remaining work. The containers will be emptied for the first time on Thursday, November 7th by the Gebrüder Brüder Brüiger from Ehingen, with an initial rhythm of two weeks.
Important to know: The disposal of household waste and household items at the rest areas is strictly prohibited and is punished as a crime! The new containers are located at various rest areas in the area of responsibility of the road maintenance department in Bad Mergentheim and Tauberbischofsheim, including Markelsheim, Unterbalbach and Distelhausen. A clear step towards hygiene and security for humans and animals!
