Ministry of the Environment is investing 8.7 million euros in solar research!
A significant step in solar energy research is undertaken with the recently announced funding of 8.7 million euros for the International Solar Energy Research Center (ISC) in Constance. This is provided by the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Environment to enable the solar module research line to be renewed, which is accompanied by the expansion of the institute. The Minister of the Environment, Thekla Walker, emphasizes that this funding is intended to significantly increase the competitiveness of Baden-Württemberg's photovoltaic supplier industry in a global competition by supporting the ISC in the development of advanced solar cell technologies, as reported on the website of the Environment Ministry.
important investments in the future of solar energy
As part of this initiative, the ISC plans to buy modern production and test systems that aim at innovative technologies. In particular, the provision of new diffusion and coating devices, exhaust air washers and automated test systems should mean that highly efficient N Type solar cells with minimal resource consumption can be developed. This development is considered crucial for the securing and reconstruction of a strong European photovoltaic production, which is less dependent on imports, the colleagues from SolarServer .
The support for the ISC could not remain the only funding measure. The center for solar energy and hydrogen research (ZSW) in Stuttgart receives over 600,000 euros for the completion of a research production line for thin-layer-layer solar modules based on perows ski. This is intended to identify and test procedures for the industrial production of these modules, which gives further potential for flexibility and efficiency in solar energy, as the Environment Ministry emphasizes. The research projects are particularly necessary at a time when the budgets for wind and solar energy were significantly reduced, which underlines the importance of these funding.
