Sophienstraße becomes a bicycle road: construction work start on Monday!
In Karlsruhe, extensive renovation measures are imminent on Sophienstraße. The city administration has announced that the already signposted section will be further optimized as a bicycle road. The access closure for motor vehicle traffic on Lessingstrasse is now supplemented by additional structural adjustments.
These structural adjustments concern the part of Sophienstraße between Schiller and Reinhold-Frank-Straße. On Monday, October 14, 2024, the work will begin, which were commissioned by the municipal civil engineering office. The goal is to make the street area more secure and more comfortable for cyclists and pedestrians.
Details on the renovation work
The conversion stipulates that the curb, the bushel, Moninger, Lessing- and Hans-Sachs-Straße are adjusted at the crossings. This leads to a narrowing of the road cross -section. This measure increases safety for cyclists and at the same time makes it easier for pedestrians to cross the street.
According to the current information from the civil engineering office, a construction period will be expected until the end of February 2025. The city of Karlsruhe thus pursues the long -term goal of promoting cycling and improving the conditions for all road users. Details on these measures and the progress of the construction work are expected in the next few months, reports .
The redesign of Sophienstraße reflects the efforts of the city to strengthen environmentally friendly traffic and to increase the quality of life for the citizens.
