Lufthansa presents Condor before the ultimate offer: key date near!

In a decisive judgment of the Federal Court of Justice (BGH), Lufthansa was freed from special conditions for feeder flights at Condor, which should apply in Frankfurt. After the decision that was made on December 3, Lufthansa can do without the so-called Special Pro-Rate Agreements (SPA), which granted Condor advantageous access authorizations for feeder flights. Condor had insisted on these conditions because up to 30 percent of passengers rely on international flights on Lufthansa feeders. The judgment causes great unrest at Condor, which is now under pressure to clarify its business relationships with Lufthansa by December 24, 2024 or to accept the end of the feeder contracts, such as aero.de reported.

new challenges for Condor

The Federal Cartel Office had granted Condor a legal claim to the feeder flights in the past. However, this changed after the BGH rejected the official's complaints. This U -turn could have serious consequences for the already tense relationships between the two airlines. Lufthansa also sees itself in an increasingly direct competition with Condor because she offers her own long -haul flights with her subsidiary Eurowings Discover. This led to fears that the competitive conditions in the market could continue to exaggerate, such as the Bundeskartellamt explained.

The future for Condor is now uncertain. The holiday plane plans to design certain routes from Lufthansa in 2025, but has already announced that it would build new domestic connections to the hard competitive conditions. The negotiations until the set period on December 24, 2024 will show whether Condor can continue to rely on Lufthansa's feeder flights or whether the airline must concentrate on its own domestic and long distances, which is not easily possible. The pressure to make quick decisions is continuously increasing and could bring the company into a critical situation.
