District of Karlsruhe calls for help for floods - Ministry rejects!

In the district of Karlsruhe it is bubbling! After the devastating flood in August, which has hit the municipalities such as Bruchsal and Gondelsheim hard, the longed-for financial support from the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of the Interior is not available. District Administrator Christoph Schnaudigel (CDU) is outraged and speaks of a "deep disappointment and complete incomprehension" in the district council. In an urgent letter to Interior Minister Thomas Strobl (CDU), he criticizes the decision not to provide help and accuses the Ministry of not knowing the actual situation on site.

million damage and unequal treatment

The damage in the northern district of Karlsruhe amounts to the millions, and Schnaudigel demands that the country do not give the impression that it fairly trade fair. While other regions, such as Upper Swabia, were supported from a damage amount of 125,000 euros, the affected communities in Karlsruhe remain at their expense. The “State Association of Baden in Europe” also expresses sharp criticism and emphasizes that it is unacceptable that the municipalities feel left alone.

The Ministry of the Interior does not evade criticism. A spokesman emphasizes that the events in August are regarded as regional events and that the ministry is "without ifs and buts" at the side of the municipalities. The decision about help is made clear and fact -based. In addition, the ministry refers to regular specialist support programs that could be considered for the support after the flood. However, Schnaudigel remains skeptical and demands a rethink and a fundamental promise for national aid from Stuttgart. Further discussions about the urgently needed support are already being planned.
