Bypass Güglingen-Pfaffenhofen: Removal of traffic for residents!

Güglingen, Deutschland - On December 19, 2024, the new bypass between Güglingen and Pfaffenhofen was inaugurated after around two years of construction. From December 20, 2024, traffic will be able to flow freely via the L 1103. In this special ceremony, important personalities such as the Minister of Transport Winfried Hermann and the Mayor Ulrich Heckmann and Carmen Kieninger were present. The minister emphasized the significant traffic relief for the two municipalities, because the number of vehicles passing through is expected to halve, which not only increases the quality of life of the residents, but also reduces the pollution, as was reported on the Baden-Württemberg Ministry.

The implementation of this measure has a long history that goes back to 1993, but only came into the planning phase in 2011. The final planning approval decision was granted in 2017, and the construction work began in September 2023. From the spring of 2025, the last remaining work on the street is still planned, which, for example, include the conversion of an important node in Rodbachstrasse in Pfaffenhofen. The traffic light is expected to be put into operation at the end of January 2025, whereby short closures may be necessary.

investment in the future

The total construction costs for the new bypass amount to around 11.8 million euros, which are borne together by the state, the city of Güglingen and the municipality of Pfaffenhofen. Minister Hermann and the mayors were relieved by the realized measure, which not only relieves traffic in the town center, but also opened up new development opportunities for the municipalities. Particular attention is also paid to the environmentally friendly measures during the construction, such as the establishment of amphibian passages and noise protection walls, which contribute to improving the quality of life in the region, as can be seen from the corresponding planning instructions.
