Reading festival in Heilbronn: The Frederick Day awakens the joy of reading!

In Heilbronn an exciting week started on Monday: The nationwide "Frederick-Tag" was launched to bring the children closer to reading to the children in Baden-Württemberg. This campaign, which will take place in the city library by Friday, is primarily aimed at school classes. Here through various reading actions, reading skills and the fun of reading in children should be promoted from the first to sixth grade.

The "Frederick-Tag" has its origins in the well-known children's book figure Frederick, a mouse that collects words, colors and sun rays, while her friends collect a supplies for winter. In order to counter the long, gray winter days, Frederick uses his collection to cheer up his friends. This creative idea has now given the impetus for a nationwide initiative that aims to inspire children for reading and bring them closer to the world of books.

The initiative is supported by schools, kindergarten and libraries and has now been a fixture in the calendar of educational funding in Baden-Württemberg since its introduction in 1997. The participating institutions offer readings that are carried out by committed reading sponsors to inspire the children for the books and stories that are waiting for them.
