Heidenheim: Pioneers for foot and cycling in Baden-Württemberg!
Heidenheim, the emerging city in Baden-Württemberg, has achieved a remarkable victory! The working group bicycle and pedestrian-friendly municipalities (AGFK-BW) has awarded Heidenheim with the coveted quality level for foot and cycling. This award makes Heidenheim one of the first municipalities in the country to have this title. The honor took place in the university city of Tübingen, where state transport minister Winfried Hermann (Greens) and Günter Riemer, the CEO of the AGFK-BW, presented the documents to the 32 excellent municipalities.
a step into the future
Mayor Michael Salomo was enthusiastic about the award: "I am very pleased that we have received the award in Heidenheim. We would now like to continue to build on this and further improve foot and cycling for people in our city." But that's just the beginning! Heidenheim plans to continue to invest in foot and cycling in order to increase the quality of life of the citizens. The city has already started numerous projects, including new bike paths, the creation of bicycle boxes and barrier -free bus stops.
innovative projects for better mobility
The reasons for the award are diverse: Heidenheim has created new bike paths, including routes to the Middle Rain and along the Bergstrasse. Cycling lanes were realized by the absence of car parking spaces, and bicycle collecting garages and boxes are now available in front of the train station. A bicycle -friendly underpass under the B19 and the planned breakdown in the town hall district are further steps towards a modern traffic infrastructure. Günter Riemer praised the initiative: "With the quality offensive, our municipal network not only proves courage, but also that it effectively promotes foot and cycling on site."
The AGFK-BW supports the member municipalities with a comprehensive support package that promotes active mobility and improves the infrastructure. Heidenheim is well on the way to becoming a pioneer in foot and cycling planning!
