An architectural jewel is revived! The water tower at the Czernyring in the Bahnstadt Heidelberg, a well -known landmark, receives an exciting update. On November 6, 2024, the main and finance committee unanimously decided to shape the surroundings of the historical tower. From spring 2025 a small, inviting place will be created here, which will be a real eye -catcher for both residents and visitors.

The water tower, a relic from the time of the former freight station, is currently being renovated by a private investor and expanded for gastronomic purposes. But that's not all! The newly designed area between Czernyring, green mile and the tram route is equipped with a colorful planting and cozy seating. Here people can relax and enjoy the atmosphere.

barrier -free and sustainable - a place for everyone!

Particularly noteworthy: The new place is designed to be barrier -free! A staircase and a ramp ensure that every access has. To protect nature, a large part of the rainwater is held back, which relieves the sewage system. The planting with shrubs, perennials and trees not only offers a nice sight, but also a habitat for insects and birds. Part of the square is also reserved for the external seating of the future catering business in the water tower.

The financing is carried out via the Bahnstadt trust, which is responsible for the construction work in this aspiring district. The start of construction for the square is planned for the second quarter of 2025 and will be based on the progress of the renovation work on the water tower. An exciting project that makes the Bahnstadt even more livable!
