Offenburg's citizen: Security at the train station in danger!
In the summer of 2024, the city of Offenburg examined the security situation of its residents as part of a comprehensive citizens' survey. Over 15,000 citizens were chosen random, with more than a third of the respondents participating. A central result of the survey shows that many residents at the train station feel a strong discomfort and fear of crime. These fears are not unfounded: in 2023 a total of 7727 offenses were registered in Offenburg. The frequency of the crimes in the city is now compared to large cities such as Mannheim, Freiburg and Karlsruhe. In order to counteract the security feeling of the citizens, the city administration plans targeted measures based on the results of the survey.
