Heidelberg relies on green mobility: four companies!

Heidelberg, Deutschland - Heidelberg sets a strong sign of the environment! On November 11, 2024, four companies were awarded the coveted certificate of the “Operational Mobility Management” program (BMM). This initiative, which was launched in October 2020, aims to promote environmentally friendly way to work and to advance the mobility transition in the city. In recent years, 15 companies and three schools have already benefited from this innovative program.

When the ceremonial handover in the building Prince Carl, climate and mobility mayor Raoul Schmidt-Lamontain emphasized the importance of the BMM: "Our funding program is a central component to support companies and institutions in the best possible way and to position them as an attractive employer." The participating companies can offer their employees a comprehensive mobility package through tailor -made consultations and individual solutions. The participants this year are AGC Biologics GmbH, Celonic Deutschland GmbH & Co. KG, Josef Lamy GmbH and the Studierendenwerk Heidelberg Aör.

Sustainable mobility solutions for companies

The BMM is a joint project that helps the company to make their mobility strategies more environmentally friendly. The support includes promoting sustainable means of transport such as local public transport, bicycles and alternative drives. The implementation of home office models is also promoted. The participating companies were able to analyze their mobility data and develop measures to promote sustainable means of transport. "The program contributes significantly to climate and resource protection and relieves our transport systems," continues Schmidt-Lamontain.

Heidelberg pursues ambitious climate goals and has launched a comprehensive funding program as part of the 2035 urban traffic development plan. This should not only support the mobility transition, but also actively contribute to the reduction of emissions. However, the continuation of the program depends on the urban budget situation.
