Alcohol at the wheel: 65-year-old causes serious accident in Nußloch

A dramatic traffic accident shaken Nussloch on Friday afternoon! A 65-year-old driver who had obviously looked too deep into the glass caused considerable damage. With his VW van he was on the B 3 from Wiesloch towards Heidelberg around 4 p.m. when the disaster started.

The course of the accident

Suddenly the driver got off his lane and crashed against the left guardrails of the bridge on the K4256. But that's not all: the van overcame the guardrails, raced over the green strip and touched a bridge pillar before finally came to a standstill, half on the guardrail. The accident left a real chaos!

Fortunately, the driver was unharmed, while his vehicle suffered total damage. The collision tore open the oil pan and operated on the ground. But the Nußloch volunteer fire brigade quickly came to help and prevented the oil from seepling into the ground. The total damage is estimated at almost 30,000 euros - a horrendous sum for a moment of carelessness!

When the accident recording, the police quickly found that the 65-year-old smelled heavily of alcohol. An alcohol test carried out resulted in alarming 0.6 per thousand. Now the driver not only has to deal with the financial consequences, but also with an investigation due to driving under the influence of alcohol. Another proof that alcohol at the wheel is never a good idea!
