Schleischeis alarm in Baden-Württemberg: Caution on the streets!

In Baden-Württemberg, a weather warning for numerous regions was given. The German Weather Service (DWD) warns for Sunday, January 7, 2025, of black ice, which is to appear between 3 a.m. and 10 a.m. The areas concerned include Stuttgart, East Württemberg, Neckar-Alb, Donau-Diller, Bodensee-Oberschwaben, the Black Forest and the Upper Rhine

A low pressure area with a heat front is expected on the night of January 7th, which initially brings snowfall down to the deep layers. Due to increasing temperatures, a transition to ice rain is then forecast. During the day, the temperatures could reach up to 13 degrees, while on Monday, January 6th, they will be between 11 and 15 degrees. From the following week, maximum values between 3 and 8 degrees are expected. From Friday, January 10th, the temperatures will drop to 0 to 1 degree, with possible snowfalls. According to the American weather model, frosty values up to minus 20 degrees could even be reached in mid-January, such as Merkur reported.

Caution of black ice and storm

For the entire country, caution on the streets is recommended due to the current weather conditions. Rain and very cold temperatures are to be expected at night, which creates black ice formation in many places. The DWD's black ice warning affects large parts of the country. At the beginning of the night, snowfall is to be expected, followed by the freezing rain for several hours. The temperatures will fall on minimum values between -1 and -7 degrees, while on Sunday a maximum of 4 degrees on the Ostalb and up to 12 degrees on the Oberrheingraben are expected. On Sunday morning, it is widespread with black ice, while the rainfall in the south should let go on Sunday afternoon.
