Hundreds of employees in Teningen demand more money in the warning strike!
The waves in the metal and electrical industry hide up! On Wednesday, around 300 employees in Teningen (Emmendingen district) transformed the streets into a colorful sea of red flags and loud trill pipes. IG Metall Freiburg had called for an impressive warning strike, and the workers could not be asked for long. From Amcor to the winegrowers, the strikers, supported by employees from renowned companies such as Ferromatics, Frako, Delta and Raimann, drew through the city and set a clear sign of their demands.
demands loud and clear!
Norbert Göbelsmann from IG Metall Freiburg made it clear what the employees expect: "We demand a commitment to our jobs and a fair remuneration from the companies!" The employees performed remarkable benefits during the crisis period, but now it is time for the companies to give something back. The concerns about the economic future, reinforced by the election of Donald Trump as US President, continue to raise the waves. Göbelsmann warns: "Trump is getting even more difficult. We have to stick together and defend ourselves!"
But the wave of mobilization does not end in Teningen! In Todtnau, 70 employees of Zahoransky AG also laid down the work on the same day. Union secretary Yvonne Sotorrios expressed the concerns of the workers about the increasing consumer prices, which put a lot of burden on the cost of living. "We have to consider how many cookies we can bake during this Christmas time!"
The negotiations stand still!
The situation is tense! The latest collective bargaining in the metal industry went without progress and were postponed after only two hours. Employer representative Harald Marquardt emphasizes the precarious situation in the industry: "Numerous companies are on their backs to the wall due to increased costs and serious delivery bottlenecks." However, IG Metall remains combative and not only demands seven percent more wages, but also an increase in remuneration for trainees. A clear appeal to the employer: "We need more pressure - more warning strikes!"
