Freiburg (ots) - A shocking incident shakes the region: unknown perpetrators illegally disposed of at least twelve large barrels with dangerous chemicals in the district of Emmendingen! This criminal action took place in mid -October when the barrels between the Streitberg and the Eichbergturm were unloaded. The police are standing with a mystery and urgently needs information from the population!

The barrels that were filled with chemicals such as phenylchlor formiat and surfactant solutions were discovered in two different locations: two barrels on the L 110 and ten more on the K 5100, shortly before the Eichbergturm car park. Tragically, three of the barrels were damaged in the fall, causing dangerous substances to the ground and contaminated the environment. The investigators suspect that the perpetrators had local knowledge and only needed a few seconds to drop.

The police have already found that some of the barrels have been stored since 2008 and may come from an old camp. The labels were removed so that the perpetrators probably didn't even know which dangerous substances they disposed. The investigators are now looking for witnesses who have seen suspicious vehicles or transports near the drop offices. Anyone who has information about the origin of the barrels is asked to report immediately!
