Building in the Kleinishholz district: early start for safe bike paths!

The construction work in the new Kleinschholz district in Freiburg picks up speed: From mid -October, the next phase of the project will start on schedule, and this is planned even four weeks earlier than originally planned. This goes back to the successful completion of the work by the energy and supply carriers in the summer months, which are now pave the way for the starting development work.

A central element of this construction phase is the expansion of the bike ranking 2 (FR2). This goes through the new quarters and connects the Sundgauallee with Lehener Straße. The walking and cycle path used together are now shared, so that pedestrians and cyclists are more secure. The new bike track is created on a width of four meters and separated by a green strip with trees from the sidewalk, which increases both safety and the attractiveness of the section.

additional measures

In addition to the bike route expansion, a noise barrier is also built on the railway area in order to offer future residents a quieter living environment. The new neighborhood road will turn directly into Lehener Straße, and a construction area is being built in the construction area, which is prepared for later housing. The building construction is expected to begin in early 2026.

A total of around 500 apartments are planned in the urban quarters. This project is a significant step towards developing the living space in Freiburg. Further information on Kleinschholz are available on the official website of the city of Freiburg at www.freiburg.de/kleineschholz .

The initiators of the work are the city of Freiburg, which in a press release gives a positive assessment to the planning and implementation of the project. The implementation of this construction project is considered important to cover the living requirements in Freiburg and further improve the infrastructure.
